Instructions

Install modx2mcp-1.2.3-pl.transport.zip through Package Manager on MODX Revolution 2.8.x. This package is for MODX 2 only.

If the previous MODX 2 package named modxmcp is installed, fully uninstall it first, then install modx2mcp. Do not keep both package identities installed side by side. Full uninstall removes the old modxmcp.* settings and API token; verify new settings and update your MCP client token after installation. Subsequent upgrades of modx2mcp preserve settings and token.

Read the API token from the modxmcp system settings and configure a local MCP client with Node.js 18 or newer.

Use npx with github:rumata-estor/modx3-mcp#v1.2.3. Set MODX_MCP_SITE_URL to https://your-site.example/assets/components/modxmcp/api.php and MODX_MCP_TOKEN to your API token. The Node.js MCP client is shared with the MODX 3 distribution.

Begin with read-only operations and enable only the capability groups you need.

On new installations, the component is disabled by default. Enable it in the component settings when you are ready to use it.

Redesigned the manager dashboard with a responsive two-column layout, clearer settings and capability controls, and administrator-only token reveal/copy.
Improved the dependency graph page, typography, responsive filters and scrolling.
Added transactional resource-TV CAS v2 and element-property CAS: 193 server actions / 192 public MCP tools.
Fixed README and CHANGELOG links and images in the package installer; documentation URLs are pinned to v1.2.3.
Added automated installer-link and dashboard/graph regression checks.
Existing settings and API tokens are preserved during standard upgrades.
Tested on MODX Revolution 2.8.9-pl.
