Instructions

Install or upgrade modx3mcp-1.2.0-pl.transport.zip through MODX Package Management. This package is for MODX Revolution 3.x. Existing modxmcp settings and API tokens are preserved during upgrades.

Obtain the API token from the component settings.

Configure your MCP-compatible client to run npx with arguments -y and github:rumata-estor/modx3-mcp#v1.2.0. Node.js 18 or newer is required. When upgrading, update the client release tag to v1.2.0 and restart the MCP client.

Set MODX_MCP_SITE_URL to https://your-site.example/assets/components/modxmcp/api.php and MODX_MCP_TOKEN to your API token.

Start with read-only operations and enable the capability groups required for your workflow.

New in 1.2.0-pl

Expanded the API from 182 to 192 actions: 81 read operations and 111 write operations.
Added get_site_state, site revision/fingerprint and atomic compare-and-swap preconditions to reject stale writes with STALE_STATE. Successful modular write operations return _site_revision.
Added reading, creating, updating and deleting ClientConfig settings.
Added read operations for access policies, policy templates, resource groups and group membership.
Moved set_lexicon_entry to a dedicated safe modular write path.
Resource reads now include deleted state for recycle/undelete workflows.
Fixed ClientConfig sorting by cgSetting.key.
